Remy

Today was significant for two reasons.  One it was my longest run since January of 2011 when I completed my first marathon.  Yes it was slow, but I didn’t stop and the speed will come.
The biggest part about my run today was that it was my first run without my beloved dog and running partner Remy.   Cancer ended Remy’s running career months ago but it was always nice to have her smiling at me when I came home.  Remy was there when I took my first run almost eight years ago and she was there throughout my marathon training.  She has been with me through the runs I struggled with and on the runs I felt truly alive.  She was there with me on my trips up the incline, she has got to be one of the few Rottweiler’s to summit at least six Colorado 14ers and most importantly she was there at my side in my life every day.

There are no words to describe how much I’ll miss her.  I loved her, she was my dog, my running partner, and my friend and she will be missed.

  1. Andrew,

So sorry to hear about Remy. Remy sounded like a pretty remarkable running partner and friend.

Just know in your heart that although she will no longer be able to run beside you, she will always be running inside you as always to the finish line of all your marathons and 14ers to come.
